Goals and Student Learning Outcomes


GOAL: List what you want students to be able to understand / accomplish asa result of the learning experience.



It helps to begin with the wording: "Students will be able to....." or "Students will understand...."


The activities they do (research, reading, group work, etc.) are only means to an end--not the goals themselves.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES: what students will be able to demonstrate as a result of the lesson List the activities in this lesson that will allow students to accomplish each goal
 
Write the Goal, and then list the objectives under that specific goal.
